Plymouth State University (PSU) recently launched New Hampshire’s most affordable in-person Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, in which a group of full-time students will complete their degrees together in just one year. The new option joins the University’s online option, which can be completed part-time or full-time and is ranked by TheBestMastersDegrees.com as one of the top 20 “Best Value” MBA programs in the United States.
PSU has more than 40 years of experience with MBA programs and is highly credentialed.
Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), a global business education accrediting body. Plymouth State University’s business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
U.S. News & World Report ranks Plymouth State University in the top 40 among “Top Public Schools” in the North Region.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Plymouth State University was #1 among public universities across the U.S.A. for improving students’ critical thinking abilities.
The new full-time, on-campus graduate program caters to those looking to engage with their professors and fellow students in a small class setting. It also gives students the opportunity to pursue advanced business degrees even if they did not study business in their undergraduate coursework. The program is currently structured to serve a cohort of 25 students, with plans to scale the program to accommodate more students in the future.
“We used feedback collected from our current students, prospective students, and alumni to create our new cohort MBA program,” said PSU President Donald Birx. “Students want to build a community in their classroom and explore business concepts with others from varied backgrounds. Our cohort program gives our students a unique sense of belonging and helps them develop relationships that will serve them after they graduate.”
The MBA program includes courses focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and applied projects to prepare students to be successful business leaders. On-campus students are eligible to apply for graduate assistantships with any campus department, program, or office, and awardees earn tuition waivers and stipend-based on-campus employment.
Students work closely with faculty with a wide array of business expertise, building a network with real-world entrepreneurs and business leaders, and learn by doing, playing a strategic managerial role in hands-on projects with real businesses. Additionally, they have the opportunity to integrate their own business or start-up ideas into classwork, making the program relevant and individualized for personal career goals.
Both program options offer two exclusively-designed preparatory online courses that can be taken before the standard curriculum begins, which provide non-business students with the necessary foundation and knowledge to be successful. (Students with sufficient prior business backgrounds are not required to take these courses.)
Students can also earn certificates in accounting, strategic marketing management, or international business in addition to acquiring their MBA degrees.
“One of the biggest benefits of PSU’s new program is that I can ask my professors questions in person, in class,” said current MBA candidate Rachel Muzio about the in-person option. “Having frequent, in-person classes makes learning the various concepts easier for me and helps me to understand the material in greater detail.”
Plymouth State University is recognized nationally for its innovative learning model, and is the centerpiece of Plymouth, New Hampshire, a classic New England college town. With an enrollment of approximately 4,000 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students, PSU’s 170-acre campus is a blend of historic buildings (including the former residence of Poet Laureate Robert Frost, who taught on campus) and impressive, modern facilities.
The area is surrounded by resorts, parks, and beautiful natural areas, including the White Mountain National Forest and the scenic Lakes Region. PSU is easily reached by interstate highway and Boston is only 1.5 hours away. Bus service from the University to Downtown Boston and Boston Logan International Airport is available daily.
PSU is currently accepting applications for the next in-person MBA cohort and applications are due by April 15, 2020. The online option features rolling admission throughout the year for the next available semester.
